Resource Matters presentation

Resource Matters, a non-profit organization with offices in Brussels and Kinshasa, strives to identify and present the best solutions for making natural resources work for people across the Democratic Republic of Congo, in order to informpolicy makers, investors and civil society.

The organization aims to help overcome the paradox that the DRC is immensely rich in natural resources but lacks socio-economic development for its population.

Our longterm commitment is to develop recognized expertise and scientific rigor, not for academic purposes but with the aim of achieving direct, tangible results for the benefit of the population through research, advocacy and constructive engagement. In particular, we aim to promote policies and practices that enable people to enjoy the benefits of the country’s vast natural resources, and reduce those that foster corruption or other harmful practices.

At the heart of Resource Matters’ strategy is our close collaboration with local civil society groups such as the Le Congo n’est pas à vendre coalition (anti-corruption), the Makuta ya Maendeleo consortium (mining) and the Mwangaza network (energy), whom we encourage to network and act collectively.

Presentation of the redesign project

Resource Matters’ website www.resourcematters.org was created in 2018. In view of the changes, digital and technological evolutions, we are launching a tender for the redesign of the organization’s website. The overall objective is to modernize the Resource Matters website to make it more accessible and userfriendly for any visitor and to provide connectivity with the current and future work of the various departments. This objective can be achieved through a redesign, UX principles, new functionalities and a technical update.

Our website is outdated and obsolete, and we’d like to improve navigation and functionality to better present our work and make it easier for visitors to navigate.

The redesign of our website is motivated by the following reasons:

  • a new web strategy (site optimization for search engines, creation of a captivating landing page, etc.),
  • non-responsive web design,
  • a clean-up of the home page (landing page) to make it easier to identify Resource Matters: what we do and where we work;
  • a change of visual identity and graphic charter...
  • a more modern and efficient web design (UX),
  • simpler, more intuitive navigation,
  • development of the site’s audience (SEO Friendly development)

Purpose and use of the website

  • Inform Resource Matters’ audiences of the various publications and platforms;
  • Adopt and develop a user-based perspective: communicate clearly and in structured manner the main activities of Resource Matters and provide accessibility to wide ranging (often very specific and specialized) contents. Provide space for dissemination of Resource Matters unique datasets and various contents (presentations, infographics, videos, visual content)
  • Increase in unique visitors and in page views per visitor as well as reduce the bounce rate.
  • Increase traffic from other websites and social media accounts
  • Greater rate of citations and more paper downloads
  • More retweeting and re-posting of blogs or other contents.
  • In general, increasing the reputation and visibility of Resource Matters
  • including visual rebranding and platforms.
